To start a treatment it is not necessary to have a medical referral. After an initial interview or test application, the speech therapist will assess the need or not to go to a medical specialty.
The time of the interview requires that some data be collected, varying according to the complaint of each pathology,
The diagnosis is made after the symptoms are ranked, so that it is possible to discover the origin of the deficit presented by the patient, whether in oral and/or written communication.
It is noteworthy that the complaint is not always consistent with the diagnosis, on the contrary, it often happens that the excessive complaint interferes with the diagnosis and exercise planning.
The duration and frequency of sessions for adults and children are different, it is recommended that with children of about 5 years, the ideal time is 30 minutes and the frequency varies between 2 and 3 weekly sessions. From that age onwards, it is generally recommended for around 50 minutes and frequency of 1 to 2 sessions in the majority.
There are cases of daily need, usually in cases of patients who have sequelae of brain damage, hearing loss and visual impairment. Therapy can take a vacation, including as an allies of motivation and internal cognitive changes.
