As of this Monday, May 12, registration for the 2014 edition of the Student Program-Graduate Agreement (PEC-G) of the Ministry of Education (MEC). The program grants scholarships for undergraduate courses in Brazil to foreign students. In this edition, nationals from the following countries may apply:
Africa: South Africa, Angola, Algeria, Benin, Cape Verde, Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Egypt, Gabon, Ghana, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Kenya, Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, São Tomé and Príncipe, Senegal, Tanzania, Togo and Tunisia.
North and Central America: Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Dominican Republic and Trinidad and Tobago.
South America: Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Venezuela and Uruguay.
Asia: China, India, Lebanon, Pakistan, Syria, Thailand and East Timor.
At PEC-G, the foreign student attends a free graduation in one of the
accredited universities, but, on the other hand, it needs to meet some criteria, such as having a high school graduation certificate or an equivalent course, proving that it is capable of paying for the expenses in Brazil and, in the case of countries outside the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), have a Certificate of Proficiency in Portuguese Language for Foreign (Celpe-Bras).Interested parties must contact Brazilian diplomatic missions or consular offices in their countries and register for the PEC-G by July 7th. At the time, it is necessary to present a declaration of commitment, academic record and declaration of completion of the level of education corresponding to high school and proof of economic capacity of parents or guardians. The documents, with the exception of the declaration of commitment, must be authenticated by a Brazilian consulate.
The selection process will be carried out by professors and technicians from Brazilian higher education institutions participating in the program. They will review the applicant's educational record and adequacy of the high school curriculum to the intended undergraduate course(s). The preliminary result will be released on September 29 and the end on November 3, by the diplomatic missions or representations.
