City and Municipality: what is the difference? city ​​and municipality

Have you ever wondered what the difference is between city ​​and municipality? Have you ever stopped to think that these are very different concepts? City and municipality are different expressions to designate different aspects of the same territory.

Per City, is understood as the urban space of a municipality delimited by an urban perimeter. To be considered a city, it is necessary to have a minimum number of inhabitants and an infrastructure that serves minimally the conditions of this population, even if this city is dependent on others that are located close to her.

Per County, it is understood the political territorial space within a state or federative unit, is the space administered by a city hall. The municipality has its rural and urbanized areas.

The same municipality can have several cities, also called districts, so the name of the municipality will be the same as the main city or the headquarters district, and it is in this district that the administration or city ​​Hall.
