THE Paraguay flag is a rectangle composed of three horizontal red, white and blue bands. In the center there is a shield on the obverse and a different one on the reverse.
Although it was formulated during the struggles for independence in 1811, the pavilion we know today was only made official in 1842.

History
The first flag of independent Paraguay was a blue rectangle, in honor of Our Lady of the Assumption, with a white star.
Later, there was a fusion between the Spanish flag and the blue color. This flag symbolized the Hispanic origins of the new nation.
In 1812, they adopted the three colors blue, white and red. The central white strip should be wider than the sides.
