Meaning of Worship (What it is, Concept and Definition)

worship is show great admiration for something or someone, that is, it is showing deep respect, it is having great affection.

Worship is a transitive verb, originating from Latin “venerate”, which means the action of to revere, to have a great admiration for the other, is to give honor to someone.

For some strands of Christianity, veneration is related to devotion to saints, angels and images. It is a way to honor and honor them for interceding in Heaven for the Church.

Difference between venerating and adoring

For the Catholic Church, venerating and worshiping are two distinct actions. Worship comes from the Latin word "adoration" and it can also be called "latry".

While veneration is an honor rendered to the saints, a reverence for something that reminds us of God, worship is a cult and an exclusive homage to God.

Worshiping God means acknowledging his perfection and superiority as creator and savior. The adoration of God, for the Catholic Church, is the recognition of our submission.
