The Yang-Tsé is a river that is of great importance in the generation of energy, in this sense, the Três Gorges hydroelectric plant is being built in its course. Despite the positive aspect of power generation, there are major environmental and social impasses caused by the project. At least 1.1 million people will be left homeless and many archaeological sites will be lost.
For the construction of the hydroelectric plant it was necessary to dam the waters of the Yang-Tsé, thus its dam is 180 meters high and a decade of hard work to complete the first part, when fully completed the dam will be 600 kilometers long.
