With the new model, citizens can choose between carrying the physical or digital version of their identity, in something similar to what was already done with national documents, such as the CNH and the Voter ID, for example.

This digitalization process in the issuance of IDs in Minas Gerais contributed to better preparing the ground for the arrival of National Identity Card (CIN).
The new document, proposed by the federal government, comes with the proposal to simplify the identification of citizens throughout the national territory.
According to the PCMG statement, the agents responsible for the identification service of the Minas Gerais population are being trained to issue the CIN.
“Throughout the month of November, all Identification Posts will be able to gradually issue the document. After completion of the testing and training phase, the expectation is that around 140,000 National Identity Cards will be issued in the month”, said the entity in a note.
Anyone who does not want to issue the CIN will not be penalized for doing so. At least this is what Decree 10,977/2022 ensures, which further confirms that the validity date for documents issued from 03/22/2022 is 02/22/2032.
Like Minas Gerais, other states in the Federation are also in the process of adapting to the start of issuing the National Identity Card.
