The first tip to make your work in the kitchen easier and make the rice looser is to wash it before cooking. Just place it in a colander and rinse under running water. After that, let the water drain completely.

This step helps to remove some of the starch from the product, leaving it whiter and also looser when cooking.

Another super important tip is that, after cooking it in the usual way – sautéing the garlic and onion and letting it cook – it is essential to wait for it to dry.

In other words, it is not because you turned off the fire that the food must be served immediately. After finishing cooking, it must be covered and left to rest for a few minutes, so that the water dries. However, when serving, transfer it to another cooler container to stop the cooking process.

Extra tip to save gas

All of the tips above are extremely important to keep your rice fluffy. However, there is a trick that will help you achieve this feat and also save gas! We know that this is something that must be taken into consideration nowadays when cooking, right?

Therefore, follow the usual process: sauté garlic and onion, add the rice and water. However, as soon as the water starts to boil, you must take action: turn off the heat!

After that, place a tea towel and spread it over the pan, then cover it. After about 20 minutes, you will have your rice completely cooked and fluffy! In other words, the gas will be used for the shortest possible time.
