The death of the puppy Estopinha last Wednesday (20) was announced by the veterinarian and tutor Alexandre Rossi. The news moved Brazilians who followed and knew the story of Brazil's first pet influencer.
“A part of me was destroyed. 14 years of intense coexistence and lots of love, adventure and mischief. It was worth every second with her. Thank you all for your love”, said Rossi in the statement about the dog’s death.

Pets create such intense bonds with people that, in a time of loss and mourning, the suffering is intense due to the long years of living together.
However, labor laws in Brazil do not consider the I mourn for the pet as a justification for being absent from work.

The Consolidation of Labor Laws (CLT) points out that the absence of workers for two consecutive days may occur in the event of the death of:
Children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren (ascendants);
Great-grandparents, grandparents and parents (descendants);
Spouse;
Brothers.
However, this delicate moment of losing a pet can be negotiated with the company and managers, due to the grief.
“It is recommended to explain the importance of the pet in your life and how the loss has affected (you) emotionally. Proposing a form of compensation for the time of absence is a sensible strategy”, said lawyer Ana Carolina Martin, in an interview with the G1 portal.
A project of Law (PL) began proceedings in the Chamber of Deputies to determine the worker's absence in the event of the death of a pet cat or dog. PL 221/23 is authored by deputies Fred Costa (Patriota – MG) and deputy Delegado Bruno Lima (PP – SP).
The PL is necessary “so that people can more easily overcome the grieving process when faced with the death of their loved one. your pet dog and cat and to resolve bureaucratic issues”, point out the authors of the project.
Estopinha's case raised such questions in the working relationship due to the great commotion among Brazilians who follow his trajectory of love and companionship with his tutors.

Estopinha's story
Estopinha had a narrative of overcoming when she was adopted in 2009 by Alexandre Rossi, who accompanied her until the last minutes.
The dog was adopted after being returned by two families because she was very agitated. Thus, Rossi decided to welcome her to demonstrate that all pets can be cared for and loved.
“Estopinha was gone… we slept together and she was pain-free. That was the most important thing for me. She received care during the night and was able to rest in my bed with all the affection I could give,” Alexandre Rossi communicated via social media.
