Just a few minutes after the first contact, a second message arrived, requesting a considerable transfer of around R$2,500.

It was Ada's sagacity and vigilance that helped her thwart this attempted coup. Through an interview with the G1 portal, the woman shared details of the attempted coup.

Carefully following the guidelines provided by the police to protect herself against scams, the woman adopted an intelligent and shrewd strategy.

She decided to ask the scammer a personal and unexpected question, asking what the boy's grandmother's name was. The scammer responded with another question, which made the woman doubt even more.

Personal question saved the woman from a scam

The victim highlighted that she noticed the scam attempt from the beginning, mainly because the contact provided for the PIX transaction was associated with an unknown person.

Even when the scammer tried to impersonate her son, she kept vigilance and security measures in mind.

The main points observed by her coincide with the essential guidelines provided by the police to avoid this type of scam.

  • Carefully check the contact linked to the PIX transaction;
  • Always confirm the identity of the person you are communicating with, especially when dealing with financial requests.

Therefore, it is extremely important to pay attention to messages or links that are easily shared on social networks. In this woman's case, she distrusted all the information and analyzed what was happening.

When you receive new messages from unknown numbers, be suspicious! Even if it is from someone you know, ask for concrete proof that the transfer will be made to the right person. The warning is valid!
