Having a cat is a delight. Contrary to what many people think, cats are neither treacherous nor self-interested. In fact, they are very companions and provide us with a lot of love and moments of much affection. But they may be incompatible with a very common decoration item: plants.
Having plants indoors, especially if you live in an apartment, gives the place a special touch; brings green and life to the environment. However, there are some that are toxic to your pet and can cause discomfort, severe poisoning and even death of the animal.

Why are cats so attracted to plants?
It's true that kittens really like plants. In some cases, they may even use the vases as a bathroom, but they also enjoy chewing on them and rubbing themselves against them.
The reason for this is in the feline DNA. They have this instinct to eat vegetables, leaves and even grasses – in fact, a great tip is to plant some of them for your cat (we'll talk about this below).
Contrary to what many people think, they do not eat plants to induce vomiting, but rather because they help eliminate hairballs and also aid in the pets' digestion.
What plants are safe for felines?
Vegetables in general can be offered to your cat, such as: parsley, lettuce, watercress, arugula, coriander and kale. These can be ingested without any fear – and they love them!
You can also create a “mini garden” so that your cat can enjoy it as much as he wants. Many people make a small plantation of birdseed, because it is a plant that germinates quickly, in addition to being easy to maintain.
Planting popcorn also grows a grass that is very palatable for your pet. But felines can also eat any of these plants below:
- Mint.
- Rosemary.
- Thyme.
- Lemongrass.
- Basil.
- Valerian.
- Chamomile.
