India's Chandrayaan-3 space probe sent the first images after landing on the surface of the Moon. The record places the Asian country in a select group of space exploration that has already reached the lunar soil.
The remarkable achievement was shared on X, the former Twitter of the Indian Space Research Organization, India's agency. A missionis at the lunar south pole and aims to explore the surface in search of water and oxygen.

Even before making the successful landing, the probe was already recording images of the south pole of the natural satellite. These were captured with the Horizontal Speed Camera during arrival.
Afterwards, photographs from the landing camera show part of Chandrayaan-3 on a flat surface of the astro's soil.

Chandrayaan-3: India's space probe
The Chandrayaan-3 probe was launched on July 14 to carry out a space mission to the lunar surface. Since then, it has slowly drifted through space until it reached the south pole of the Moon.
In 2019, the country tried a similar mission with the Chandrayaan-2 spacecraft. However, the probe had software and braking problems, which led to a collision with the lunar surface.
Four years later, this Wednesday (23) the new Indian mission achieved a historic objective by landing on the star at 6 pm (Indian time).
Now, the probe will start space exploration of the lunar soil in search of image records and data collection on the formation of the star.
The conquest of India comes at the same time that the Russian probe Luna-25 failed in its mission to reach the satellite. However, the Russians have already completed other space missions to the Moon, such as the exploration of the lunar surface in 1976.
In addition to India and Russia, China and the United States have also made successful trips there.
Among the countries in the race for space exploration, India has the lowest budget. Therefore, the Chandrayaan-3 probe represents a big step for the country in studies of the star and the universe.
