Would you drink? Company creates beer made from 'recycled' bath water; understand

After you take a shower, the water flows down the drain, through your city's sewage collection system, and is treated by the water station. But in San Francisco, in the United States, the process is a little different.

In this Californian city, bath water is turning into beer. I mean, that's what the company Epic Cleantec wants to do.

The company created Epic OneWater Brew, the World's first beer that uses recycled water from baths to showers, sinks and washing machines.

And, for the brewers reading, the brew will be Kölsch-style—clearer, lighter, drier, and slightly bitter. Would you try? They guarantee that there will be no aftertaste of shampoo or soap in the final drink.

Bath water beer? How is that?

According to information released by Epic Cleantec, the water will be collected from the Fifteen Fifty residential building, a luxury condominium that already has a water reuse system.

It is estimated that it recycles 28,000 liters of water per day, which are reused in discharges of the building with 40 floors.

But I think you are more curious to know about beer production, am I right? So let's go.

According to the company, the recycled water is stored in a tank for pre-filtering and equalization. Afterwards, it undergoes a biological treatment and then a rigorous filtering process.

Finally, the liquid is disinfected several times with ultraviolet light and chlorine. With this, the company guarantees that it can recycle up to 95% of what is collected in the building. Afterwards, just use it in the recipe.

To honor the building, Epic Cleantec pointed out that the drink is canned and labeled with the silhouette of the condominium.

You want?

Did your mouth water, my friend or my friend? I'm sorry to inform you, but you still can't taste this beer. And for a reasonable reason.

It's not that the beer it didn't work out, because it did, yes. About seven thousand cans of Epic OneWater Brew were produced, and the drink was distributed at an environmental conference that took place in 2022.

However, US legislation prohibits the sale of beverages whose composition has recycled water. It's for the next one, isn't it?

“I didn’t even want to”

And do you think Epic Cleantec was shaken by this? Nothing. The idea behind the beer was just to show that it is possible to recycle the water we use in our homes and that, who knows, in the future, it can be consumed again.
