The Ministry of Economy of Argentina adopted this week two new versions of the dollar, the 'Coldplay dollar' and the 'Qatar dollar'.
With the two currencies that came into effect yesterday (12), the country has 15 different quotations for the American dollar.
The initiative is a strategy to face the strong economic crisis that Argentina is going through. The objective is to ensure the international reserves of the American currency in the country, by preventing the exit of the dollar and encouraging its entry.
The 'Coldplay dollar' refers to the British band of the same name that will play ten shows on Argentine soil in the coming weeks.
This currency aims to economically strengthen the cultural sector, being used to hire presentations of international attractions in the country.
The 'Qatar dollar' was created due to World Cup 2022 to be held in Qatar starting in November and will apply to tourists.
Travelers who spend more than US$300 on a credit or debit card outside Argentina will be charged a 45% fee on purchases.
With this measure, the government intends to discourage the outflow of dollars from the country on international trips. Its quotation is 314 pesos per dollar, higher than the traditional quotation.
On the afternoon of this Thursday (13), the US dollar was quoted at 151 Argentine pesos.
Do not stop now... There's more after the publicity ;)
