The study's producers did an analysis of how the use of cell phones, tablets and screens in general affects the behavior and development of these children, considering that this is a report of responsible. Faced with this dependence, parents sought information that could help them in this family impasse.

Interview with Australian parents

The research in question presented 281 Australian guardians. More than 70% of them revealed that family problems that have become recurrent at home are related to the use of screens. However, one in three of these parents never sought official sources that could help them in the matter.

In addition, some other problems were noted by parents in relation to their children. These are just some of the examples: insomnia, social isolation, excessive gaming, problems solving activities, etc.. The proportion made for this was at least one in five guardians and caregivers.

How can parents behave?

A very important point about the problem is to identify it, which already happens. On the other hand, there is still little reliable information on how to act in the face of this and on what the use of screens really causes in the development of these children and adolescents. It is more difficult for parents nowadays, because before that technology did not exist or was not so present in the routine.

Parents end up looking for information on informal websites that do not offer scientific evidence for the solutions that are offered. Thinking about it, it is seen that there is an urgency in new research that can help in this regard.

What can be done to alleviate the situation?

Limit the time the child or adolescent spends with the device; use of parental controls to limit content; limit electronics on certain occasions, such as at meal times; invest in physical exercises or offer new tasks to occupy time.
