The Ministry of Education and the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira released a survey on the performance of teachers and managers of basic education in the country based on the School Census of 2022. This research aimed to verify compliance with the goals of the National Education Plan, which include democratic school management.
Most basic education managers are women with higher education, however, few have gone through a qualified selection process before assuming the position. The survey highlighted that only 19.3% of directors have continued training in school management.

Youth and Adult Education (EJA) is once again a federal priority
With regard to teachers, most have higher education, except for teachers of religious education, foreign language and arts. Although the adequacy between teacher training and the subject they teach is high in many cases, in some subjects this proportion does not reach 50%. In the final years of primary and secondary education, there is a predominant profile of graduates in the same area in which they teach.
Research is essential to keep up with the goals of the National Education Plan and evaluate the performance of basic education professionals in the country. The Minister of Education intends to develop a national policy in collaboration with the federal entities to achieve the PNE targets and evaluate the aspects that need to be improved.
