This post is a suggestion from the Escola Educação team for your carnival lesson plan. The idea is for it to be worked on with students in the early years.

O Carnival it is a national celebration with a moving date, that is, each year it takes place in a different period but always 47 days before Easter (which also has a moving date). With that, the date for this festivity to occur is according to Catholic tradition.

THEME: Carnival

YEAR: 1st year of elementary school I

DURATION: 2 lessons of 50 minutes

GOALS:

  • Valuing Brazilian culture in the school environment;
  • Work on the theme with recreational activities (music, dance);
  • Stimulate the student's creativity and promote artistic paintings;
  • Develop oral and written language;
  • Promote the adaptation and socialization of the student in the school environment.

DIDACTIC RESOURCES:

  • Cardboard or brown paper (your choice);
  • Whiteboard brush (pen);
  • Printed carnival masks;
  • Colored pencils, ink, crayons, glitter (tools that allow the student to color their mask);
  • Sound.

DEVELOPMENT:

  • Make a circle with the students and talk to them about the carnival. Ask questions like: Do you know what carnival is? What comes to your mind when that word is said? Which songs remind you of carnival?
  • Select a march. Here we will work with the marchinha Mom I want and put the music to play (students will remain seated in the circle).
  • After playing the music, take the cardboard or brown paper and direct it to the middle of the circle.
  • Together with the students, start writing the lyrics of the song (large letters) asking them to speak the way they each word is written (if they don't already know, ask them to repeat each word of the song you say).
  • With the cardboard ready, take some crayons and call one student at a time to color the first letter of his name that is inserted at the beginning of a word in the song. For example, if the student's name is Mariana, then she will have to color the letter M for Mama.
  • If you have a student who does not have the letter of his name at the beginning of a word in the song, ask him to color any letter he has in his name. For example: The student is called Heitor, ask him to color words that have the letters E, I, T O, R: “MamaIt is or wantO".
  • Place the brown paper somewhere in the room and sing the marchinha with the students, pointing to the words sung on the paper.
  • Ask the students what the feeling this march generated was: Were they happy? Excited? What does she want to do?
  • Ask everyone to sit in their place and distribute the printed masks so that everyone can color in their own way.
  • With the masks ready, put them on each student and enjoy a little carnival dance in your living room, while you hear different marches playing. Have fun!

INTERACTIVE ACTIVITIES:

  • Color the letter of the name
  • paint the masks
  • Sing
  • To dance
