Exchanges to replace dairy

  • Plant milks: oats, soy or rice

Milk is one of the most common and, nowadays, the easiest replacements, finding different options for all tastes and budgets. Thus, soy, oat and rice milk are the most common to find in markets. In this way, milk of animal origin can be easily replaced in recipes.

These options can be versatile and also functional, like oat milk that helps with the gastrointestinal flow, for example. Soy milk, in turn, is an important source of calcium. Rice milk, on the other hand, becomes a great alternative because it has a neutral taste, without compromising the flavor of the recipe. Not to mention that all these substitutes can be made at home.

  • Coconut milk

This option is also very popular, but it fits better in sweeter recipes, as its flavor is more specific and striking.

  • Other options to replace animal milk

In addition to the options mentioned above, teas are also considered great replacements in recipes where milk is the main liquid. Another interesting option is to use fruit juice or coconut water for some specific recipes, such as smoothies, for example.

For this recipe to be done correctly, you will need to soak the chestnuts in water for at least eight hours, and then make a cream with them (beat them with coconut oil, lemon juice and sugar). Use this cream instead of cream cheese and it will be delicious!
