To avoid an embarrassing situation and make users focus on the content rather than the popularity of the content, well, Instagram gives users the option to hide and view counts on posts appearing in your feed.
How to hide or show Instagram likes and view counts?
You can change whether you see the total number of likes and views on posts that appear in Feed. To hide or show “likes” and see other people's post counts in the feed, the following steps can be taken:
Step 1: Tap your profile picture in the bottom right corner to go to your profile.
Step 2: tap more options in the upper-right corner, then tap Settings.
Step 3: Click Privacy and tap Posts.
Step 4: Tap the Off or On available next to Hide Likes & View Counts to toggle this setting on or off.

You can also change the likes and view count settings for the posts you share in the feed.
You will still be able to see the total number of likes and views on your own posts. To hide or show “likes” and see counts before sharing your post to the feed, these are the steps you can follow:
Step 1: before sharing a post, tap Advanced settings at the bottom.
Step 2: tap the off or on next to Hide like counts for videos or hide like counts for photos to toggle this setting on or off.
If you want to hide or show the like and view count of a post that you have already shared in the feed, then follow the steps mentioned below:
Step 1: Tap on the three dots icon available at the top right corner of your post.
Step 2: tap Hide similar counts or Hide similar counts to enable this setting.
Step 3: tap Show Similar Counts or Show Similar Counts to disable this setting.
However, users need to note that these settings only hide counts of likes and views of posts in the feed.
