Last year marks a restart of education after long years of the Covid-19 pandemic. Data from the School Census were expected to assess the levels of issues and developments in national education throughout 2022. Data collected in Ceará indicate that 2.1 million new enrollments were made in basic education.
Last Wednesday, the 8th, the result of the collection was released by the Ministry of Education (MEC) and showed a positive increase in the education of the people of Ceará, as well as indicating issues that still need to be resolved. For every one hundred students, as indicated by the data, 82 of them are from the public school system in the northeastern state.

School Census and the evolution of education in Ceará
EJA showed evolution in enrollments in the post-pandemic scenario
Youth and Adult Education (EJA) had higher enrollment numbers compared to 2021. After Covid-19, this has been a modality that appears to be growing in the state after a scenario of evasion.
In 2022, 163,125 students were received across the state, surpassing the 162,025 enrolled in 2021.
Falling school delay
The state showed a reduction in school delay, which is when there are students who are two years or more behind from the 6th grade of elementary school. The data confirm that out of every ten students, only one was presented with the age-grade distortion.
Enrollments in day care centers showed new growth in the state
This was an important data that was in evidence throughout the country, including Ceará. Daycare enrollments have not increased during the pandemic. The data started to normalize only in 2022. In Ceará alone, day care centers received 182,000 new enrollments of children in the age group of 0 to 3 years old.
Full-time high school education increased
From all over Brazil, the state of Ceará is in third place with the largest number of students in the integral teaching model. Ahead, two other states in the Northeast also showed advances. This is the case of Paraíba and Pernambuco. In the state of Ceará, for every one hundred students in high school, 42 were in the full-time model.
