Published by a team of scientists from the Trent University of Nottingham, in the United Kingdom, the researchers were able to identify that showing symptoms and faces of stress or anxiety can cause a good print. It is even possible to receive a reaction of “affection” and sympathy for other individuals. See below how the search worked.

The search

Jamie Whitehouse, responsible for the research, carried out some behavioral assessments on 45 rhesus monkeys. Through this, he identified that some apes, when interacting with strange individuals in some way superior hierarchy, they used to scratch their heads, which could be considered a behavior of stress. In these cases, the behavior ends up generating a friendlier reaction from the other monkey.

Because of this, these results served as an inspiration for research in humans. After all, when we are faced with situations that require a lot of our mind and can leave us stressed, it is common for our body to react, even if it is not noticeable. Thus, we also present some reactions, such as biting the lips, sweating cold, feeling the heart racing and even scratching the hair.

Human research results

Thus, while conducting tests on 23 human volunteers, they were subjected to job interviews that did not exist. During the process, the research ended up revealing that people who went through all the stages and who showed a higher level of stress, received a more empathetic and identifying reaction in their interviews. Surprising, isn't it?
