Tinder users: 65% already have a partner, says survey

A recent study found that around 65.3% of Tinder users are married or in a relationship. However, the habits of this social network reveal other curious results, such as the fact that many people do not want to make an appointment.

Although almost a third of users are married or engaged, another analysis points out that only 50.3% of the platform's profiles are really interested in meeting someone in person.

The phenomenon indicates that the Tinder nowadays it has become more of a source of entertainment and social interaction, as well as other common social networks. According to the researchers, this practice ends up promoting a “game of deception” between people who want to find someone and those who are just looking to increase their own confidence.

Thus, the initial objective of the application, which was to connect partners, is being shared with another social proposal among people.

Understand the research on new habits on Tinder

The studies on the dating platform were published by the editor Mary Ann Liebert and were authored by Germano Vera Cruz, Elias Aboujaoude and another team of researchers. The analysis was done with 1,387 people aged between 18 and 74 years.

Participants answered a questionnaire that established the main behaviors of users on Tinder. Thus, it was discovered that those most active in the application are between 18 and 24 years old. Another important fact is that many profiles use the network to achieve social connection, mainly due to matches, which give users a feeling of confidence.

In fact, in an interview with NBC, the researchers reported that the most dissatisfied people were those who used the network to deal with “negative emotions and other problems, such as avoidant attachment styles or psychological qualities like impulsivity”.

According to researcher Germano Cruz, the current practice harms those interested in finding a partner, as the probability decreases. For him, “some people feel cheated with using dating apps, because with every new platform that comes along, people believe they can actually meet someone”.

Due to this dissatisfaction, the tendency is for people to constantly seek new relationship platforms until, eventually, they give up arranging meetings through these means.

Finally, they remember that many relationships worked and also started online. Therefore, the platform still meets the needs of users in search of the ideal match.

However, you must be careful when using dating apps and discard all those who do not have similar goals to find the right partner.
