Inep decides that digital Enem will end this year

A digital version of the National High School Examination (Enem) had its end decreed. As guided by the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep), a body of the Ministry of Education (MEC), the high costs of the test and the low demand led to the end of the proof.

The digital Enem model has been in effect since 2019 and lasted until 2022. Students had the option of participating in the same traditional Enem test, but they chose to answer the questions using a computer. Candidates went to the test site, just like everyone else, and performed the assessment digitally.

Enem 2023: registration ends this Friday, but fee can be paid…

According to the calculations, each student in the digital Enem cost more than R$ 800, the candidates in the printed test, in 2022, revealed a cost that does not even reach half of that amount. Less than half of the digital model candidates showed up on test day.

Inep announces the end of the digital Enem

The reason for dropping out of the digital Enem was due to low demand. Last year, 100,000 places were offered to anyone who wanted to take part in the test using a computer. According to Inep, about 65,066 signed up for the option, of those enrolled, 32,376 appeared on the first day of the test and 29,888 participated on the second day.

BRL 25.3 million were invested so that candidates could have access to the digital Enem, and attendance rates were low.

On the first day, there were 49.7% of subscribers and, on the second day, the percentage dropped to 46%. When dividing the costs by each participant, it would be R$ 860 for each, while in the printed test, the amount spent per student is only R$ 160.

As of this year, therefore, candidates will only be able to access the printed model of the test that allows access to public higher education. The news became public shortly after publication in the newspaper O Estado de São Paulo. Later, the information was confirmed by G1.
