The approval of the measure took place through the Conversion Bill (PLV) 14/2023, which was reported by Senator Efraim Filho (União-PB).

The proposal also mentions several advantages for the beneficiaries of the program, many of them in favor of guaranteeing access to information.

The novelty intends to implement changes in the General Telecommunications Law to allow the use of part of the subsidy for the provision of services.

In this way, access to basic telephone subscription, broadband internet and pay-TV will be made available at a lower cost to program beneficiaries.

In addition, part of this subsidy will be directed towards the implementation of infrastructures in places that do not yet have access to them. Therefore, the project also aims to reduce the difficulty of accessing digital, informational and cultural content.

At first, the application of 5% of the housing program budget is being studied to guarantee access to services by part of the beneficiaries, taking into account, mainly, municipalities that have a population of up to 50 thousand population.

Who will be the beneficiaries of the program to receive the aid

For those who wish to understand more deeply how this subsidy works, it is worth mentioning that there are still some items in the proposal that must be regulated. This regulation revolves around investing in sites that meet three specific characteristics.

Improvements in public transport, health and education services are also planned, as well as the promotion of the use of sustainable and environmental technologies, in addition to places with large commercial areas.
