Check the 2022 election calendar
From the 2nd of October this year, the first Sunday of the month, Brazilians will need to go to the polls across the country to vote for their candidates. As is expected every year, in case there is a need for a second shift for the positions of governor and president, voters will need to vote again on October 30, the last Sunday of month.
These dates were chosen and set in accordance with the Federal Constitution, which provides that the dates for voting take place on the first and last Sunday of the month. At the end of the process of counting voters' votes, after the second round, the elected candidates will be graduated by December 19, 2022.
Deadline for issuing and regularizing the voter registration card
The act of voting is a right guaranteed by the Federal Constitution and is mandatory, except in specific cases, in which the citizen must explain the reason for not being able to vote. Thus, to exercise this right, individuals must have their voter registration status regularized.
The period for this regularization continues until May 3, 2022. This is because on May 4, the electoral register must be closed, since, according to the Elections Law, the period for electoral registration must be closed 150 days before the election. It is worth noting that, to avoid any unforeseen events, it is important to regularize as soon as possible.
