When does the FGTS profit payment come out?
According to the law, all money corresponding to the profit must be in the workers' account by August 31st. Generally, the Ministry of Economy surveys the amount and announces it every year to give a perspective of how much each worker can receive. However, that announcement has yet to be made this year. To have a base, the amount for the year 2020 was BRL 8.1 billion, which was distributed among workers.
Who is entitled to receive?
It is worth remembering that every Brazilian who has some kind of formal contract according to the Consolidation of Labor Laws (CLT) must have an FGTS account. In addition, domestic, rural, temporary, intermittent, single workers, harvesters and professional athletes also have these accounts.
Thus, all those who have their respective FGTS accounts active or inactive and who had some amount available in their account until December 31, 2021, receive the profit. This is because the Federal Government will use precisely this money for the investments we mentioned.
On the other hand, no one can withdraw this money at any time, but on certain so-called special occasions. Like, for example, the anniversary withdrawal, or other legal withdrawals allowed by the government. Apart from these situations, only in traditional cases, such as unfair dismissal, will it be possible to withdraw money. For now, workers must wait until August 31 to find out the amount they can receive.
