Design flaws: learn what are the MOST famous mistakes in the world of cars

In the year 1886, a great German engineer named Karl Benz patented the first car containing explosion engine. After this milestone, many changes were proposed, however, car failures also did not fail to occur, especially in its design.

Wrong car designs

Some aspects inside the car may not act the way they should, including in terms of its operation. In this way, we brought 5 examples of cars that have errors in their assembly and the impact of this. See below:

1. Alfa Romeo MiTo brand: operation of the side lights

Turning on a car's lights should be simple, which it usually is, but not for the Alfa Mito. In this case, the project was poorly designed, and the driver needs to activate the on-board computer with the car stopped and press a total of seven buttons!

Parallel to this, Fiat also had this same model facing the side lights. However, fortunately after a few years this system was abandoned, giving way to what we know today.

2. Chevrolet Cobalt: ignition switch

The ignition switch on the first generation Cobalt was designed so that it could easily turn inside the barrel without needing to be turned by a person. If that really happened, the engine would turn off and the hydraulic steering, as well as the braking assistance and airbags would be inoperative, that is, a great danger for the driver.

3. Chrysler PT Cabrio: rear access

An unfortunate feature in this type of car is precisely the access to the back seats, which was somewhat impeded. So anyone wanting to get to the back had to push the belts down and step over them, or else pull them up and step under, making the whole process more difficult.

4. Citroën XM: parking brake

The parking brake was foot-activated and actually worked well, but it became problematic during hill starts if the car had a manual transmission. As a result, the driver's left leg was obliged to activate the parking brake and the clutch pedal, which clearly was not possible to do at the same time.

5. Fiat 500 TwinAir: engine vibration

Despite being a very beautiful car, its least favored feature was a strong vibration. In this case, the discomfort was caused by power strokes that were relatively large and distant in time compared to those of a larger displacement engine.
