States that will start issuing the new ID model
The Federal Government completed the delivery of the first shipment of the new RG on June 27th. Furthermore, it was announced that, as of August 4th, the responsible bodies of some states will issue documents in their new format. By March 2023, it is expected that all units of the federation will be familiar with the new system.

As previously mentioned, from the first week of August some states will be able to start issuing the new RG model to citizens. Check out the list of what they are:

- Minas Gerais;
- Paraná;
- Rio Grande do Sul;
- Goiás;

Who should make the switch to the new document?
Only in cases of necessity, such as the issuance of the first or second visa or when the validity of the document has expired, the exchange for a new document must be made immediately.
In addition, the new RG will have several validity periods, such as 5 years for people from 0 to 12 years old, 10 years for people between 12 and 60 years of age and indefinite term for people aged 60 or over more. In addition, it is worth mentioning that the new document will be available in two versions, digital and physical. Another change is the inclusion of the MRZ code, which may be accepted on trips to Mercosur countries.
