The organization ShareAction, which specializes in sustainability, said in a note that about 40% of the products sold by Nestlé in the United Kingdom have high levels of salt, sugar and fat.
Owner of brands such as Child, milk, and KitKat, of chocolate, Nestlé, which is headquartered in Switzerland, was once considered the largest food company in the world. Currently, the company is on the list of the largest industries in the sector.

After being encouraged by ShareAction, Nestlé committed itself to reducing the addition of harmful ingredients to its products. The statement was made recently, along with the release of a sales report.
In early April, the company launched a new cereal from the brand KitKat in the UK which contains 7.4g of sugar in every 30g. This amount of sugar is far above the recommended maximum for daily consumption by adults.
According to Nestlé, cereal should be consumed only once a day, preferably for breakfast. Even so, ShareAction suggests that the company quickly reduce the distribution of such foods.
ShareAction Executive Vice President Simon Rawson commented on the matter. “Nestlé has said it wants to sell healthier food, but has not given guarantees that it will also reduce sales of less healthy food. This is key to turning the tide against the harmful effects these foods bring to people's health,” he said.
In response, Nestlé said it was the first large food industry to be concerned about the issue worldwide. “We are the first company to report the nutritional value of our entire global portfolio against a single externally recognized nutrient profiling scheme," said a statement issued by a spokesperson for company.
