Modifications to the Popular Pharmacy program

Popular Pharmacy is a federal government program whose main objective is to offer free medicines for different types of diseases through the Unified Health System (SUS). Thus, medicines to treat diseases such as HIV, diabetes and asthma are made available to the entire Brazilian population. This program contains a partnership between private pharmacies and the Brazilian government.

Not long ago, five more medicines were added to the list of distributed medicines for the treatment of specific diseases. However, for 2023, until then, the forecast is that around 60% of the budget for this project will be cut.

According to information issued by the newspaper O Globo, the team appointed by Lula is already studying new possibilities to try to get new budgets for the program, being forced to go through Congress National. What is known so far is that the new proposal will be very different from the last one, which was made by current President Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

The governmentpetistaintendsincrease the amount intended to the program in more BRL 1.2 billion. But for that, the presidentnewlyelected will have to strive to dialogue with the National Congress.
