Importance of answering the Demographic Census questionnaire
The Census is carried out by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) and gathers data regarding the characteristics and living conditions of the Brazilian population, such as, for example: color, housing conditions, income, among others information.
From the collected data, statistics capable of characterizing the country's population are generated. and, based on this, specific strategies can be devised to solve various issues social. Therefore, it is extremely important that the Census questionnaire is answered correctly.
Until the beginning of November, IBGE census takers will visit 89 million addresses, 75 of which million households spread across 5,570 municipalities in Brazil, including quilombos and villages indigenous.
Fine for those who do not respond to the Census
Every citizen is obliged to answer the IBGE survey and this is nothing new. The rule has been in place for many years and anyone who refuses can be fined! The law determines that the penalty is up to 10 times the value of the minimum wage, in the case of a primary infraction. If the person is a repeat offender, the amount can reach up to twice that amount.
In addition to paying the fine, the offender is still obliged to provide the information within the established period. However, in such cases, the person may be exempt from paying the fine if he is a first offender.
The information collected during the Census is confidential.
It is important to highlight that the law ensures the confidentiality of the information provided. Thus, they are used exclusively for statistical purposes and cannot be used as evidence in tax, administrative and judicial proceedings, or for any other purpose.
