A study carried out by scientists at Ohio State University found that the use of acetaminophen (paracetamol), which is currently the most used by individuals around the world, can induce its consumers to start risky behavior and lose awareness of potential situations of risk.
Therefore, in today's article we will talk about this subject to show you how this statement was verified. Learn more about this important discovery.

Acetaminophen triggers risky behavior in users, study finds
Paracetamol, the most prescribed and used analgesic worldwide, is sold freely. However, according to a study carried out in 2020 by scientists at Ohio State University, it was proven that the drug has the ability to change people's behavior when it comes to risk perception and sense of fear.
500 volunteers were summoned and, for the research to be carried out, a part of the participants received 1 mg of paracetamol, while the other part received a placebo. Through this experiment, it was observed that people who were under the influence of acetaminophen took more risks than people who took placebo.
For the realization of the discovery, during the experiment, an activity was carried out where the participants should fill a bladder with air and, each time it was pumped, they would earn a monetary amount imaginary. However, if the balloon bursts, they would lose all accumulated value.
Then, after carrying out the activity, it was proven that the individuals who used paracetamol were filling their balloons without any caution, causing them to burst. Individuals who did not take any substance, or rather, who used a placebo, were extremely cautious with their balloons, that is, this part of volunteers was the one that least burst their balloons during the experimental activity.
