the football championship FIFA Club World Cup, in its latest edition, it brought a novelty to the world of technology in sports: the marked impediments will be captured by a system with 3D representation that will bring greater assertiveness.
The technology works semi-automatically and was already used in the Arab Cup championship, in November last year. Its operation is carried out thanks to a system of cameras installed on the roofs of the stadiums that identify the players and the ball from different angles. Thus, it is an evolution of VAR. This technology was used in the semifinal of the World Cup to annul an irregular goal by Al-Ahly against Palmeiras.

“The referees and assistant referees are still responsible for the decision on the field of play. Technology only gives them valuable support to make more accurate and faster decisions, especially when the incident offside is very tight and very difficult", explained Pierluigi Colina, president of the Arbitration Commission of the FIFA.
Football's top governing body also explained the procedure, noting that the system will be made up of ten cameras installed in the stadium to track 18 points on the field and provide the position of players in field. The goal is for the number of points to be increased from 18 to 29 per player during the World Cup, which will be held at the end of 2022 in Qatar. As the process is carried out in real time, this will lead to faster decision-making.
