What do I need to do to be an IBGE agent?
The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics will select 220 new agents to participate in the 2022 census. Of this total, 56 vacancies are allocated for the position of Municipal Census Agent and 164 for Supervisory Census Agent.
To win one of these vacancies, it is necessary to register in a contest of the Institute itself until June 1, 2022. Registration is free and can be done at ibge.gov.br.

Both functions contracted by IBGE will have a workload of 40 hours per week (8 hours a day), for 5 months, and this period may be extended. As for the salary of each function, there is a difference of R$ 400 between them. See below:
- Municipal Census Agent: BRL 2,100;
- Supervisory Census Agent: BRL 1,700.
It is worth noting that both positions are entitled to food allowance and transport allowance.
What is the level of education required to apply for vacancies?
Enrollment only requires a high school diploma. However, the selection of vacancies will be made by analysis of titles, the level of education of each candidate. Check below how the IBGE analysis method works:
- Candidates with complete high school = 5 points;
- Candidates with incomplete Higher Education = 7 points;
- Candidates with complete Higher Education = 10 points.
In this way, vacancies will be distributed according to the highest scores. Please note that these points are not cumulative.
When will the result be announced?
The result will be released in two phases: preliminary and definitive. The preliminary result will be released on June 9th, while the second will be available on the 20th of the same month.
