According to the general delegate of the Civil Police, Márcio Gutiérrez, in an interview with TV Verdes Mares Cariri, Rickson, the councilor's boyfriend, did not accept the end of the relationship. Yanny faced intense conflicts with him after the breakup.
The Civil Police concluded that Rickson performed the “rear-naked choke” fight on Yanny and faked her suicide by hanging her body on a rope while she was still alive. Then he committed suicide.
The general expert of Ceará, Júlio César Torres, publicly stated that there are vital signs that prove that Yanny reacted when she was put on the rope to simulate suicide and the grappling blow was applied with extreme strength. Additionally, forensics found Rickson's DNA on the rope her body had been tied to.
The coroner's report indicated that there was intense aggression against Yanny before her death, with various internal and external injuries, including a feature in the affected regions during the "kill lion".
The day before the crime, Yanny already had marks of injuries on her body, which also configures a possible aggression that she had been suffering for having ended the relationship. Initial hypotheses revolved around a double suicide, but were discarded by the investigation.
