By 2025, Brazil plans to stop using mercury lamps

At the last meeting of the Conference of the Parties – COP, which took place in 2022, at the Minamata Convention, it was established that Brazil will stop using mercury lamps, also known as fluorescent lamps.

Stop using mercury lamps was a subject discussed because this component of the fluorescent lamp can bring many health problems for humans, such as affecting the neurological part, the neuromotor part, and also causing ataxia.

The goal is to replace these lamp models with LED lamps, which, in addition to not having heavy metals in their composition, can consume less energy.
