Who will be affected by the new measure?
Currently, there are several options for streaming apps besides Netflix, such as Primer Video, Disney Plus, Globo Play and HBO Max. Because of this, enjoying the movies and series on these services can weigh heavily on your pocket. Therefore, any promotion or means of reducing these prices, such as sharing the bill with acquaintances, can help to reduce these costs a lot. However, Netflix seems to want to restrict this alternative.
This is because the company intends to charge an extra amount for users who access the account at addresses other than the one used when registering.
For now, Brazilian users will not be affected by the streaming service's new fees. This is because, initially, the update will reach only three countries: Chile, Costa Rica and Peru. If it has positive effects in these regions, the measure could reach other places in the world.
How much is the extra fee?
According to information released by Netflix itself, rates should vary according to the economy of each country. Check out:
- Chile: 2,380 CLP;
- Costa Rica: $2.99;
- Peru: 7.9 PEN.
In general, these amounts are equivalent to around R$ 15, but the official price in Brazil has not yet been released. However, to get an idea of how much this fee can cost here, just understand that it corresponds to about 30% of the value of the most basic plan. Here in Brazil, as this option costs BRL 25.90, the fee can be between BRL 7 and BRL 8.
However, some people are still positive about the possibility of this update not reaching the country. After all, this is a process that is still being tested and has not been officially announced for Brazilian lands.
