Learn to be more optimistic!

In a new study, researchers followed nearly 160 million women over the course of 90 years and found that optimists may live longer than pessimists. The team found that optimism is linked to a 5.4% increase in lifespan, which translates to 4.4 years longer on average.

Furthermore, an analysis of the results revealed that women in the most optimistic group had a 10% greater chance of surviving past age 90 than those in the least optimistic group. Even when factors such as depression, critical health conditions, and social and economic background were taken into account, the results were consistent.

1. different perspectives

Changing your perspective doesn't have to be complex. In fact, this can be a simple and effective process. The most pessimistic people tend to see things through a negative lens, but it's crucial to remember that there is another way to look at a situation, which experts call "positive reframing". Therefore, in difficult situations, always try to use the lens of positivism.

2. Hang out with optimistic people

Emotions, both negative and positive, can be contagious. Try to notice who you spend your daily time with, and if you start to connect with more optimistic people, you will certainly be affected by their energy. The opposite can also apply, so always be aware of who you keep close.

3. Be grateful

Gratitude has the ability to promote a more optimistic outlook on life. A good technique is to write down events that occur each day at the end of the day that you feel grateful for. This goes for occurrences of any kind: having a delicious meal, enjoying time with friends and family, being able to work, among others.
