You don't have to be a twin to find someone very similar to you physically and genetically.

If you've ever watched How I Met Your Mother, you're probably familiar with the word Doppelgänger, which means doppelganger. In the series, the characters meet people with characteristics similar to their own.

However, something that until then belonged to the fictional universe, became a curious published study, in which researchers claim that in addition to physical attributes, people with similar characteristics have a lot in common.

The group of researchers conducted the study with 32 people and used facial recognition technology based on three different algorithms to analyze the image of the look-alikes.

The algorithms understood that 16 people out of the 32 people surveyed are considered identical, the so-called doppelgängers, therefore, scientists conducted genetic studies within this group and found incredible similarities between 9 people.

In addition to appearance, the doppelgangers share approximately 20,000 genetic variations in nearly 4,000 genes, most of them linked to behavioral and facial aspects.

To observe the behavioral profile, the researchers analyzed the answers to the questionnaires answered by the group of 32 people. The analyzes point out that the lifestyle of the doppelgangers is also similar, such as education level, weight and even cigarette consumption.

From the artist François Brunelle's look-alike catalog, available on the internet, the scientists had access to a database to start the research. The use of 64 photos recorded on the site, in addition to the DNA and lifestyle analysis of each person, led to the conclusions of genetic and behavioral proximity by the scholars.
