Lula's government will clean up the Single Registry starting next year

The transition team claimed that it will evaluate all individual concessions to find out if the beneficiaries are meeting all the requirements to be part of the government program. If this cleaning is not performed on users, the program may end up becoming “inefficient”.

This measure is being taken because, according to an assessment made, the Cadastro Único has been distorted, where there was a significant growth of registered families with only one member, known as sole proprietorships. In August of this year, around 5.3 million people were in this category.

A procedure to learn more about the increase in these families has already been initiated at the request of the Ministry of Citizenship, and informed that it makes a “treatment in all the public do Cadastro Único” together with its partner Dataprev.

The first inspections of single-person households will be for records that have been included or updated after November 2021, as at that time the sum of families in this condition was 2.2 million. For this reason, 3 million beneficiary families will have to update their registration or else the benefit will be blocked.
