Lesson plan - Presence of parasites in the environment and worms
THEME: parasites and worms
SUGGESTED TIME: 1 class
GOALS:
- Know some parasites.
- Understand what a worm is.
- Recognize the importance of personal hygiene habits and food to prevent worms.
MATERIAL REQUIRED:
- roundworm figures
- Life cycle of some parasites
- Exercise list
- Blackboard and chalk/brush
DEVELOPMENT:
- Introduce the subject talking about roundworms, popularly known as worms, explain that the life cycle of some of them places man as the host. You can show students the life cycle of some parasites, but they don't need to focus on the details of the steps.
- Talk about where we can find these parasites, it is important to remember contaminated soil, water and food.
- Talk about the possible forms of human contamination with contaminated food and water. Show students the concept of verminosis: diseases caused by worms.
- Name worms and the causative agent, make a list on the board with the students.
- Ask students to answer a list of exercises related to the topic, we suggest one list of exercises on diseases related to contaminated water.
ASSESSMENT:
The evaluation of this class can be done through participation in the classroom and correction of the list of exercises.
