A long time ago our ancestors discovered, it is still unknown how, that traditional round wheels were efficient for moving objects from point A to point B.
However, post-modernity has arrived and, at least it seems, even this basic maxim of human civilization has been superseded.

That's because engineers behind YouTube channel "The Q" managed to build a bicycle with "square wheels".
It may seem difficult to conceive of such a peculiar idea, but the news is completely true and was reported by journalist Andrew Liszewski, from the Gizmodo portal.
And, for those who are curious to know, yes, the square wheel bike works perfectly. In fact, it runs as smoothly as a bicycle with round wheels.
See the vehicle in action in this full video posted from The Q channel:
The “different” bike is an old dream
Vehicles with non-round wheels are not a new idea. To exemplify this fact, a few years ago, images of a pickup truck with square wheels appeared on the internet. However, the vehicle looked quite dysfunctional.
There have also been images of bicycles with triangular wheels, like one that was demonstrated at Burning Man a few years ago.
Finally, how not to remember the famous square-wheeled tricycle, presented by the American writer and comedian Mike Reiss at the National Museum of Mathematics in New York.
However, all these non-round wheeled vehicles had one problem in common: their different wheels would not roll over any type of terrain.
However, the square wheel bike presented by The Q channel can be ridden and used comfortably almost anywhere.
The new bike's secret lies in its rubber tires that have been cut and combined with four sets of bicycle chains to create a continuous tread that rolls around each wheel.
Thus, even if the square wheels do not roll, which is what happens, the bicycle's tires are driven, in a movement similar to that seen in treadmills on war tanks.
Including, precisely because it bears this resemblance to the war machine, the square-wheeled bicycle is being called a “pedal-powered tank” on the internet.
Finally, it is worth noting that the 90-degree angle curves found on the edges of the bicycle's square wheels make it impossible to ride on rough terrain. After all, in these places the tire may end up breaking, which would make the vehicle unusable.
