Resident Mary Müller posted on her Twitter that a “corpse smell” filled the building where she lived. The smell came from an apartment where the resident did not respond to neighbors or management.
She said she went to the concierge to pick up an order, when she saw a resident tell the administration that he smelled a rotten smell coming from one of the apartments on the twelfth floor. Mary was intrigued and decided to go to the floor in question to get a closer look at the odor the guy was referring to.
When she got there, she was surprised by an extreme rotten smell of corpse.
“I went to pick up a package and overheard (gossip) a man telling management that the 12th floor it smells rotten and the neighbors are worried that ‘someone is sick in one of the fit’. Like the gossip that I am, I went upstairs and there's a F***ING SMELL OF CORPSE," said the resident.
His publication had more than 3 million views and began to raise several speculations on the part of Internet users. With the backlash for her post, people asked Mary for updates on the case.
Some netizens remembered the bizarre story of Jeffrey Dahmer, the serial killer who killed and kept the victims' bodies inside the apartment. Despite this, the outcome of the mystery was very different from what was expected.
According to Mary, the manager got in touch with the real estate agent, who went to the apartment accompanied by the police. As soon as they entered the place, they saw that the refrigerator was turned off and the food inside was rotten, so that was where the strong smell of corpse came from. The owners of the apartment were away.
