Planet Earth is the famous "Blue Planet" because of its large amount of water. However, most of these waters are unfit for consumption by living beings, due to the amount of salt. Drinking water arrives in Kiunga

In the Kiunga region, the population often had to submit to the consumption of polluted water due to scarcity. Thus, the region also had a large number of people with skin and intestinal diseases and dehydration. Due to this situation, the company GivePower developed a project that made it possible to transform salt water into drinkable water.

The project was also intended to be sustainable, which is why they are betting on renewable and clean energy: solar energy. Soon, the entire plant was made to work only with energy coming from the sun and daily, with the help of Tesla batteries.

More than 35,000 people benefited

The transformation of the quality of life of these people is certainly the best reward, as more than 35,000 people today have access to drinking water. Consequently, more health arrives for this population, which was hostage to scarce and polluted sources. In other words, a simple ingredient, such as water, is capable of changing the entire social reality of a village.

Currently, the plant can supply around 70,000 liters of water throughout the day. In addition, the current of drinking water reaches far, through parallel pumps, which also improves agriculture in the country. And there's more, as GivePower also enabled the creation of new jobs and trained the population to carry out the necessary maintenance. With that, we imagine the size of the impact received by these people, and we hope that more initiatives like this are carried out.
