Cofecub announcement: Capes will finance up to 35 projects with R$ 1.7 million each

In the Official Gazette (DOU) of this Monday (3), the Notice No. 8/2023 of the Ministry of Education (MEC) through the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes).

The notice refers to the selection of up to 35 joint research projects between Brazil and France from the Committee Program French Assessment of University Cooperation with Brazil (Capes/Cofecub), in all areas of the knowledge. Proposals must have at least one institution in each country.

To the registrations for the edict go until the 25th of May. The selection will have four stages of analysis: technical; of merit; prioritization and final decision, which will be announced by November. The start of activities is scheduled for January 2024.

The value offered by Capes for each selected project is R$ 1.7 million, of which R$ 10 thousand for funding and R$ 35 thousand for work missions, in addition to R$ 387 thousand for grants. All values ​​are annual. Projects can last up to four years, according to an intermediate evaluation.

The French Committee for the Evaluation of University Cooperation with Brazil Program (Capes/Cofecub) is the oldest Capes partnership still in force and selects projects research clusters to encourage exchanges between higher education institutions and public research and development institutes or centers of the two countries.
