Registration for the 2023 Mathematics Olympiad is now open

The Brazilian Public School Mathematics Olympiad (Obmep) reaches its 18th edition. In 2023, Obmep will have two phases, the first of which will take place on May 30, comprising 20 objective questions of the matter, with the disclosure of those approved for the second stage made on the 2nd of August. The second phase will have the test locations announced on August 31, with the application of the tests taking place on October 7. Each candidate will take a discursive test consisting of six questions in the second phase of the test. In the end, the results will be released on December 20th.

Registration for the 18th edition of Obmep can now be made, and interested schools must register by March 17, the deadline for closing registration. It is important to note that student registrations are carried out exclusively by schools.

In this way, the recommendation is that managers register as soon as possible, since they need to pass on the information of the participants for the organization of the competition, thus avoiding any setbacks and complications that may arise when completing the registration of last hour.

Who can participate in the Olympics?

Are eligible to participate in Obmep:

  • Municipal schools from the 6th to the 9th year of Elementary School and the entire High School;
  • State schools from the 6th to the 9th year of Elementary School and the entire High School;
  • Federal schools from the 6th to the 9th year of Elementary School and the entire High School;
  • Private schools from the 6th to the 9th year of Elementary School and the entire High School;

In addition, the competition takes place at three different levels, namely:

  • Level 1: 6th and 7th year of elementary school;
  • Level 2: 8th and 9th year of Elementary School;
  • Level 3: High school.

Public schools are exempt from fees, while private schools have to pay a fee of at least BRL 180 per level. The values ​​are as follows for private schools:

  • Between 1 and 40 students per level: BRL 180;
  • Between 41 and 80 students per level: BRL 340;
  • Between 81 and 120 students per level: BRL 480;
  • Over 120 students per level: BRL 4 for each subscriber added;
