What is the 4-7-8 technique?

The 4-7-8 technique is a yoga-inspired relaxation exercise involving inhaling and exhaling movements. Everything happens quickly and simply to help people get to sleep briefly, as it acts as a tranquilizer, which relaxes our body and relieves stress. Check out how it works:

  • Place the tip of the tongue on the roof of the mouth, behind the teeth, and do not move it during the exercise;
  • Exhale only through your mouth, allowing the air to come out making the sound of the breeze;
  • Close your mouth – still with your tongue pressing the sky – and inhale slowly, counting to four;
  • Hold the air and count to seven;
  • Release the air gently through the mouth for eight seconds, in the same way as indicated in the first expiration;
  • Inhale again and repeat the cycle three more times.

How can she help at bedtime?

This technique consists of making people relax and turn off their mind, entering the field of meditation. For it to work, it is necessary to have practice (or routine) so that, through it, the organism leaves the hustle of the day, relieves stress, and understands that it is time to rest. So, at that moment, breathing in a coordinated rhythm, making the mind focus on the entrance and exit of the air, tends to help.

Because of this, it is a light technique that many people who have hectic routines and problems sleeping are looking for.
