those retired by invalidity or for permanent disability who need help from family members, nurses or other professionals to carry out small day-to-day activities may request the additional amount. These people fall under the rules proposed by the INSS:
• Total blindness;
• Alteration of mental capacities;
• Illness that prevents the retiree from getting out of bed;
• Damage and use of prosthesis in one of the feet or in one of the hands;
• Paralysis of more than one upper or lower limb;
• Permanent disability to carry out daily activities;
• Loss of a lower or upper limb, when there are no possibilities to place a prosthesis.
In addition to these cases listed, other cases similar to these may guarantee the additional amount for retirement. The cases will be evaluated by the INSS. To add the new percentage, the value will need to go through a new Institute expertise.
When requesting a new medical report, the technical expertise of the INSS itself will be checked. This process may take a total of 45 working days.
How to apply
Those who fit one of these rule options, the additional may be requested through the My INSS application - available for iOS and Android -, going to the "New Order" tab. To confirm, enter the necessary information and then attach the documentation that proves the right to receive the additional and dependence on third parties. Then, add the photo ID and the CPF of the person responsible's representative or attorney.
The INSS expertise will be scheduled based on the beneficiary's choice of day and time. The documents attached in the application will be requested by the agents together with the medical reports.
