Survey points out 10 professions that will be extinct in Brazil in 20 years

With the increase of automation in several areas of the job market, some professions in Brazil could be extinct in approximately 20 years. This conclusion was drawn from a survey that was carried out by Brazilian researchers and published in the article “Automation and Loss of Jobs: the Brazilian case”.

This research was based on a study that was carried out by the University of Oxford, in England, in order to understand which professions and occupations are most likely to end up in Brazil in the next two decades.

“Our results showed that 58.1% of Brazilian jobs could disappear in the next 10 or who knows 20 years due to the automation of things. (…) Furthermore, we also observe that workers who are employed in the informal sector will have the greatest chance of see their jobs being exchanged for machines than those who are formally employed by companies”, says the study.

The consultancy carried out by IDAdos, together with the ISE Business School, collected data to point out the occupations that should be replaced by automation and those that are least likely to be affected by the change that is happening.

  • Data entry operators (typist) – 99%
  • Mid-level law professionals and the like (assistant) – 99%
  • Insurance agents – 99%
  • Operators of machines to manufacture photographic equipment – ​​99%
  • Phone sellers – 99%
  • Customs brokers – 99%
  • Accountants and bookkeepers – 98%
  • Legal secretaries - 98%
  • Car, taxi and van drivers – 98%
  • Store clerks and salespeople – 98%

  • Hotel managers – 0.4%

  • Sex workers – 0.6%
