New National Identity Card
In this new version, the RG number will be extinguished and only the CPF will be accepted, with the objective of unifying the number of document throughout Brazil and increase the security of individuals' personal data, thus reducing falsification and the frauds. The new national RG will have two versions: physical and digital. The digital version has a QR code that will allow checking its authenticity, in addition to bringing other information - such as whether the document was stolen or lost, for example.
This new version will also serve as a travel document, since it will present the so-called standard international code (MRZ) – the same used in passports. It is worth noting that the use of the identity document was only authorized at posts in MERCOSUR countries.
The cost to make the new Identity Card is zero, with 10 years of validity for people up to 60 years old. As for those over 60, the old RG will continue to be valid indefinitely.

- Acre;
- Pernambuco;
- Goiás;
- Minas Gerais;
- Paraná;
- Santa Catarina;
- Federal District.
The government hopes that by March 2023 all states will already be working with the new version.
2. Until when can we make the new national RG?
There is no hurry, since the current document is valid until the year 2032.
